U-Tube Heat Exchanger is a heat exchanger that uses a "U" shaped tube bundle, where both ends of the tube are connected to only one tubesheet. This design allows for free expansion towards the curved end without causing thermal stress, thereby reducing stress due to the sharp temperature difference between the inlet and outlet fluids. Although cleaning the inside of the U-tube is quite difficult to do mechanically, its main advantage lies in the ease of pulling the entire U-tube bundle for cleaning the outside (shell side), as well as a more economical cost compared to the floating head type.
