U-Tube Heat Exchanger U-Tube Heat Exchanger is a heat exchange device that uses a "U" shaped tube bundle. Where both ends of the tube are connected to only one tubesheet. This design allows the tube to expand freely towards the curved end without creating thermal stress. So it reduces stress due to the difference in temperature which is very contrasting between the inlet and outlet fluid. Although cleaning the inside of U-tube is quite difficult to do mechanically, the advantage mainly lies in the ease of pulling out the entire U-tube bundle for external cleaning (shell side). And the cost is more economical compared to the floating head type.
